Job Description

The Hampshire, Franklin & Hampden Agricultural Society (Three County Fair) is seeking a part-time Maintenance and Grounds Laborer for the 2025 event season.

Our grounds crew handles the set up and break down of events on the fairgrounds, including the general landscaping and facility maintenance projects.

This is a seasonal position with flexible part-time hours, April through November.

Maintenance & Grounds Laborer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with event set up and tear down (including horse stall set up and break down)
  • Mowing, trimming and general landscaping
  • Cleaning and maintaining fairgrounds, including trash removal
  • Minor repairs or painting as needed
  • Operating small machinery or golf carts (if required or trained)
  • Minor custodial tasks & facility maintenance
  • Use construction/maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Typical work week: various part-time hours available (M-TH 7am-3:30pm, M-F 7am-1pm, F-M 9:30am-3:30pm part-time)

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Reliable transportation to and from the fairgrounds
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, lift up to 50 pounds or perform physical labor for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working around machinery

Skills & Experience

  • Prior groundskeeping, landscaping, or maintenance experienced is a plus but is NOT required
  • Basic knowledge of lawn care, landscaping equipment and hand tools (mowers, weed trimmers, rakes, etc)
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team
  • Forklift, skid steer, truck/tractor driving experience a plus
  • Conducts self in a professional and polite manner to all guests
  • Positive attitude and work ethic

FULL-TIME GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE CREW

FULL-TIME GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE LABORER

The Hampshire, Franklin & Hampden Agricultural Society (Three County Fair) is seeking full-time seasonal Maintenance and Grounds Laborer for the current event season.

Maintenance & Grounds Laborer Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follow project instructions from supervisor
• Assist with event set up and clean up including horse stalls, bathroom facilities, ground maintenance and parking lot management
• Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
• Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
• Typical work week: M-F 7am-3:30pm full-time
• Occasional weekends, holidays and overtime required

Maintenance & Grounds Laborer Requirements and Qualifications:
• Construction and / or mechanic experience preferred
• Forklift, skid steer, truck/tractor driving experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• Must be a U.S. resident and/or authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must pass employee drug screening and background check upon employment offer
• Supplying your own basic tools required (tool belt, hammer, drill)
• Forklift/hoisting license a plus
• Prior facilities management experience a plus
• High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeships a plus
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds
• Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, working at elevated levels
• Positive attitude and work ethic
• Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Good interpersonal skills, punctual and good communication with all levels of management

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience level

COMPETITIONS & OFFICE COORDINATOR

PART-TIME/SEASONAL COMPETITONS & OFFICE COORDINATOR

Job Description

The Competitions & Office Coordinator is responsible for organizing and record keeping for all agricultural competitions during the fair and assists with other tasks including managing Marketplace vendor applications and general office coordination.

This is a seasonal position with flexible part-time hours, April through November.

Competitions & Office Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage annual competition Premium Book publication for the Fair utilizing ShoWorks program
  • Manage all organizational activities involving competitions, department heads, judges, ribbons, trophies for the annual Fair
  • Manage the processing and distribution of premium check payouts, judges’ fees and department head stipends during the Fair
  • Assist Management with various Human Resource activities for the fair
  • Assist office in maintaining multiple databases, including members, vendors, directors, employees, etc.
  • Assist with vendor applications and fulfillment of Marketplace vendor responsibilities
  • Act as liaison for marketplace vendors during the fair
  • Assist office in organizing and distributing periodic mailings throughout the year
  • Answering & directing customer calls & in-office inquiries
  • Pickup company mail at post office when needed
  • Help maintain office supply inventory and office equipment maintenance
  • Assist Management scheduling periodic Department Head meetings along with list of RSVP’s
  • Assist with Picture ID credential management for Fair workers and volunteers
  • Work occasional and certain event weekends, such as winter storage drop off and pick up, annual meeting, department head meetings, and other seasonal events working in non-traditional duties
  • Additional duties and projects as required

  • Proficient with computers and experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Strong attention to detail & accuracy in managing paperwork and maintaining records
  • Knowledge of fairs or event operations is a plus
  • 1-3 year’s in a similar administration or office coordinator type role
  • Conducts self in a professional and polite manner to all guests
  • Positive attitude and work ethic

VOLUNTEER

The Hampshire Franklin & Hampden Agricultural Society is seeking volunteers to serve in a variety of Guest Services roles during the annual Three County Fair, each Labor Day weekend.

VOLUNTEER SUMMARY
We are seeking reliable and personable volunteers for the annual Three County Fair over Labor Day Weekend. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting Fair Staff and Department Heads in a variety of logistical and operational activities, as well as performing Guest Service & Relations to the Fairgoers while following all site health and safety regulations. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.

Volunteer Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow instructions from Fair Staff and Department Heads
Assist with a variety of logistical and operational tasks associated with the Fair and daily activities
Follow all health and safety regulations
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner

Volunteer Requirements and Qualifications:
Ability to volunteer at least one day of the Fair
Must be at least 16 years of age
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds
Positive attitude and work ethic
Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
Event experience a plus
